Water Heater Repair

Few things disrupt a morning routine quite like a frigid shower or a lukewarm flow when heat is expected. Issues such as fluctuating temperatures, unusual tank odors, or visible moisture around the base often signal a failing heating element or an internal tank problem. Ignoring these early warning signs can lead to total system failure or high energy bills.

At Landry Mechanical Inc, Plumbing, HVAC & Electric, we identify the specific cause of hot water disruptions so your system is working properly again. Our technicians arrive prepared to conduct a thorough inspection, ensuring your water heater returns to peak performance with minimal downtime. We prioritize technical accuracy and transparent communication so you understand exactly what is needed to fix the problem.

Signs Your Water Heater Needs Repair

When a water heater begins to fail, it often provides subtle warnings through changes in temperature or sound. Homeowners should remain vigilant for specific symptoms indicating that the internal components are no longer functioning correctly.

Inconsistent Water Temperature

Lukewarm water or a total loss of heat typically indicates a failure in the upper or lower heating elements or a malfunctioning thermostat. Our team tests the electrical continuity of these components to determine whether a targeted part replacement can resolve the problem.

Rumbling or Popping Noises

Rumbling or popping sounds inside the tank are often caused by heavy mineral buildup and sediment. As water becomes trapped beneath this layer, it boils, creating pressure pockets that strain the tank and reduce heating efficiency.

Leaks or Rust-Colored Water

Visible leaks or rust-colored water are critical signs that the internal lining or the sacrificial anode rod has reached the end of its functional life. Addressing these leaks immediately is vital to prevent property damage and a potential tank burst.

The presence of moisture around the base of the unit should be treated as a priority service requirement to avoid structural flooding.

Our Repair and Diagnostic Process

Restoring a hot water system requires a strategic approach that goes beyond temporary fixes to address the root cause of the malfunction. We follow a step-by-step inspection to ensure every repair meets our high standards for safety and longevity.

System Evaluation and Testing

Every service call begins with a comprehensive inspection of the temperature and pressure relief valves, heating elements, and thermostat settings. We verify the pressure levels to ensure the unit is not under undue stress caused by incoming water pressure.

Component Replacement

Once the failure point is identified, we utilize high-grade mechanical parts to replace worn-out sensors, thermocouples, or gas valves. This targeted approach ensures that the repair integrates seamlessly with your existing system for sustained reliability.

Final Testing

After the repair is completed, we perform a thermal cycle test to confirm the unit reaches the correct temperature and maintains it efficiently. This final verification ensures your system is safe for daily use and operates at calibrated performance levels.

We can also inspect the unit after major repairs to help prevent recurring issues.

I felt very confident the job was done well. I had two service techs come out on Wednesday to diagnose a problem with our heating system. They were very thorough and determined that it was some dust build up in the system. On Friday a new tech came out and cleaned the system. I thought for about 3 hours total of labor they were priced very reasonably and I would definitely be calling for services in the future.

My experience was great. Team that arrived was awesome. I have just two opportunities to discus. The first was I was given a time window of between 8-12pm arrival. The team did not show up till after 3pm. This left me unable to do other tasks outside of my home. To be clear they communicated very well throughout and I appreciate this. But as stated by them they were running behind from other appointments. I would like to believe that the 8-12pm time frame built in extended work events. I’m happy I was able to wait the time for service but it was way too long in my opinion. The second thing was the cost of repair. I agreed to the cost but what I would have liked was an actual break down of parts, labor, use of tools to properly make sense of cost not just the service and the cost. Other than those two suggestions I am very happy with service, knowledgeable, professionalism. I will call them again for service.
